Grand Theft Auto VI: An Unusual Way To Break Into Rockstar’s Servers!

Rockstar Games and Take-Two can rightly hold their heads in their hands about the situation: we have learned more details about how the hacking happened.

The hack was carried out by a teenager, Arion Kurtaj, who had previously been able to hack into Nvidia and Uber’s networks. Kurtaj also had a 17-year-old colleague with an unknown name. They were members of a digital group called Lapsus$ and attacked Ubisoft, Microsoft, and Samsung. Kurtaj used a commonly used but unexpected device to get into Rockstar Games’ servers, and that’s how we found out more about Grand Theft Auto VI, which will be released at least ten years after GTA V. (Since then, Grand Theft Auto V has been re-released several times, but it’s best not to write anything about the PlayStation 5 release.)

Kurtaj posted over ninety videos of early Grand Theft Auto VI and threatened to release the game’s source code if the 18-year-old didn’t get what he demanded. Only Kurtaj was caught and is currently awaiting sentencing. According to the BBC, he used an Amazon Fire Stick to access the Rockstar database. This device is about the size of a USB drive that allows you to watch streamed content on your TV!

Kurtaj attacked a hotel room in England and captivity, where the police held him after the Nvidia hack. With no other choice, the desperate man used his Amazon device to access the internet and got a keyboard, a mouse, and a smartphone. It was enough to pull off perhaps the most severe leak in the gaming industry’s history, but the DOOM 3 and Half-Life 2 leaks of two decades ago perhaps shocked the industry more.

The question is, will Rockstar Games be able to live up to gamers’ expectations, or will this be another disappointment after much anticipation?
