PlayStation 5 Should Have Its Own Bloodborne!

FromSoftware’s PlayStation 4 exclusive should have inspired Sony to have a similar game on the current PlayStation console.

Bloodborne combined the Souls gameplay style with a Victorian-era, cosmic horror-style environment; for many, the world of Yharnam has been remembered. The game ultimately laid the foundations for the success of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Elden Ring. However, it is also worth taking a look at the game offerings. The PlayStation 4 took a good year and a half from launch to Bloodborne, while the PlayStation 5 has been available for almost three years since it launched, and to this day, we can’t come up with an exclusive title like the one the Japanese studio created. (Demon’s Souls Remake doesn’t fit this line of thinking, as it was essentially a reimagining of FromSoftware’s PS3 exclusive rather than a new IP.)

Bloodborne is atmospheric and stylish, but the gameplay draws the most attention. It’s also worth wondering what secrets FromSoftware may have hidden in the story, or even the world, eight and a half years after its release. The aggressive combat system rewarded continuous attacks, so compared to Souls games, there was little chance of survival with a continued defensive approach. Add to this the iconic, more significant battles and varied opponents, and it’s easy to see why Bloodborne stands out on PlayStation 4.

While With Elden Ring, FromSoftware has once again created an excellent game, it was multiplatform. Sony doesn’t have an exclusive that the company can rely on, but since then, the PC, mobile, and live service expansion has somewhat watered up Sony’s gaming strategy. Final Fantasy XVI is not a good example because it is a timed exclusive. Maybe Bloodborne was designed initially for PlayStation 4, so there’s no mention of a PlayStation 5/PC version.

Sony can’t develop a killer app like Bloodborne because that game pushed PlayStation 4 sales.
