Can This Leak About One Nintendo Switch 2 Feature Be Credible?

TECH NEWS – A recent rumour has leaked a feature that fans can expect to see on the Nintendo Switch 2 console.

The Nintendo Switch 2, or whatever Nintendo’s next console is called, could feature a new camera function. One that will allow for some sort of VR capability. Nintendo has yet to unveil its next-generation console to the masses officially. But it is expected to launch sometime in 2024.

While the Wii U was a general sales failure, the Switch was a huge success for Nintendo, breaking sales records and becoming the third best-selling video game console of all time, just behind the DS and PS2.

Sales of the Switch console have remained strong even after six years. Of course, things have admittedly slowed down compared to the early years. Nintendo is still preparing some big games for the Switch. However, the Big N is already turning its attention to the next-gen console, whatever that may be.

Rumours are already circulating about the next Nintendo console. Some say it will essentially be the successor to the Switch and will function as a home console/handheld console hybrid device. Official details of the next Nintendo console are still sketchy. But a possible recent leak suggests it will feature new camera functionality. The leak comes from an Atlus insider, who says it “may not be VR”. Nintendo fans should put this information aside for now.

This is not the only recently leaked detail about Nintendo’s next-generation console. Another leak claimed that the next Nintendo console will use LCD screens (as opposed to higher-quality OLED screens.) Presumably, this would allow Nintendo to reduce the manufacturing costs of its new console. Which in turn would ensure that it could be sold at a lower price and thus be more competitive with the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles.

As for official information on the console, not much has been revealed. Fans know that the console is in some form of development and that it will not be released this year. Nintendo has also confirmed that Nintendo accounts will be ported over from the Switch, meaning the new console will have some account continuity for the first time in Nintendo history.

It’s unclear if this means that purchases will also transfer over to the new console, but those details will be clarified after the actual launch to the masses.

When Nintendo’s next console is unveiled, it will be interesting to see how much of the leaked information about it turns out to be true. Or, which ones turn out to be false. Barring an unexpected revelation before the end of the year, fans can expect the Nintendo Switch 2 to be unveiled sometime next year.
