Fallout 3: Xbox Gamers Should Finally Try Bethesda’s Classic Again!

The free 60fps 4K “remaster” of Fallout 3 is now available for Xbox gamers!

Chances are that most Bethesda fans are currently busy playing a little game called Starfield. But if not, now is the perfect time to relive the past with games like Fallout 3!

It’s no secret that Bethesda’s brand-new space adventure, Starfield, is a blast. (We were pretty positive about it in our own review.) But who can resist the lure of simpler times? Maybe Fallout 3 is a bit lame in Bethesda’s classic way. But thanks to the power of the Xbox Series X, it looks and runs better than ever.

One of the best features of the Xbox Series X/S for classic games like Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 is its improved resolution and frame rate. It’s the kind of feature PC gamers have probably been enjoying for years. But for console fans, it could be something new. I recently tried Fallout: New Vegas on my Xbox Series X console, and I was blown away by how much better it looked.

In a recent thread, Reddit user Eglwyswrw called attention to the unofficial remaster of Fallout 3, saying that this is “the best time to revisit this gem!”

Of course, even if Starfield offers us thousands of planets to explore, you can’t really beat the quiet contemplation of wandering the ruins of Washington while Pip-Boy serenades us with hummable tales of a long-lost era.

One user said, “These games are freaking dangerous. I started playing Skyrim a while ago, currently 160 hours in, and it feels like the game will never end. I keep finding new stuff and quests (not just the generic ones). Hopefully, I can make it before Starfield!”

“The best Fallout by far,” said another user who seems to have confused Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.

Fallout 4 hasn’t officially received a visual overhaul yet, though it is coming. A free new-gen update for the 2015 game was announced last year. But Bethesda has been pretty quiet about it since then. I assume that’s because they’re working on a vast open-world game full of multiple galaxies to explore. But that’s just a hunch.

Anyway, you can play the revamped Fallout 3 now and find out how hard it’s still going in 2023!
