MOVIE NEWS – The 80-year-old Martin Scorsese’s work, which is not easily defined by genre, Killers of the Flower Moon, will soon be released in cinemas.

The film processing the events that happened, which could easily be the crowning achievement of his life’s work, is, according to the previous approaches, an “epic western crime-drama”, if it takes place in the wild west in the twenties of the last century, and narrates a love drama related to the investigation of a series of murders. The legendary director doesn’t have a problem with this broad definition, but with the fact that cinema operators classify his film in the “independent” (originally: indie) category, because he feels that they want to distinguish it from superhero comic book adaptations intended for a wide audience. “I don’t like that epithet, it’s actually a label,” Scorsese said in a style-wise interview with IndieWire. – Independent films are also aimed at a wide audience. I am very happy that Killers of the Flower Moon is now coming to the big screen, but I am concerned that this format is more reserved for action films.”

Scorsese has long disliked the Marvel comic book universe, in 2019 he told Empire magazine that he cannot even watch such films: “I see that the actors they try to do everything they can under the given circumstances, but that doesn’t make them movies, but amusement park attractions. This is not about human beings trying to transfer emotional experiences to other human beings.”

The brilliant director’s comments naturally caught the stars of the Marvel movies, including Robert Downey Jr., the heir to Iron Man, who could diplomatically say that everything is a matter of perspective, and respects the master’s opinion.

Killers of the Flower Moon was originally supposed to be about the investigation of a series of murders carried out among the Osage Indians, who got rich from oil wealth, but Leonardo DiCaprio was chosen for the main role – who is also one of the producers – at the instigation of one of the perpetrators (DiCaprio) and his Osage wife (Lily Gladstone), the focus was placed on the special relationship.
