Microsoft has confirmed that six games will soon be leaving the Xbox Game Pass subscription.
In the Xbox Game Pass “Leaving Soon” section, six games have been confirmed as most likely to leave the subscription service on October 15. In general, games added to the section will be removed either on the 15th or the last day of the month. Depending on which comes first. However, there are exceptions to this rule. Some games added to the Leaving Soon section will not be removed until slightly later.
Shenzhen I/O, for example, was listed in September as one of the Game Pass games leaving soon. This led many to believe that Shenzhen I/O would disappear on September 30. However, Shenzhen I/O will still be available on Xbox Game Pass in October 2023. Now, it looks like Shenzhen I/O will instead leave the subscription service on October 15, along with five other games.
Microsoft has yet to publish an official blog post about the games leaving Xbox Game Pass in October 2023, but the Leaving Soon section reveals that Eville, Overwhelm, Shenzhen I/O, The Legend of Tianding, Trek to Yomi, and Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion will all be removed.
Most of these Game Pass games are currently available on PC and consoles. However, Overwhelm and Shenzhen I/O are only available on PC.
Xbox Game Pass games that will be leaving in October 2023:
- Eville
- Overwhelm
- Shenzhen I/O
- The Legend of Tianding
- Trek to Yomi
- Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion
One of the benefits of Xbox Game Pass is that you can buy games included in the service at a 20% discount. This 20% discount also applies to the six Game Pass games leaving on October 15. So subscribers can use the next few weeks to try out the games and see if there are any they’d like to purchase to keep in their digital library. That said, most of the games leaving Game Pass this month are relatively short. So subscribers can potentially finish them before they are removed. For example, Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion can be completed in a few hours.
It’s worth pointing out that most of the games leaving Xbox Game Pass in October 2023 are not only short games, but most of them have also received mixed reviews from critics. With this in mind, some Game Pass subscribers may want to skip their games. Instead, they should focus on the better Game Pass games currently available. The one exception to this bunch is The Legend of Tianding, which mainly received positive reviews from critics at its original release in 2021.
