Well, Fool’s Theory and 11 Bit Studios only gave a specific date for one platform, for the other two the duo only gave a timeframe.

Let’s start with the demo, which is only available for a limited time: Until October 16th, you can find a new demo of The Thaumaturge on Steam, in which you can experience the beginning of the story of the main character, Wiktor Szulski. In less than two months, we’ll have the full game with us, but on console, the situation is more murky.

We’ve already summarized what the game is about: “The Thaumaturge is an isometric, story-driven role-playing game with a unique take on turn-based combat, character development, and investigation mechanics that presents you with morally ambiguous choices – set in a world teeming with mysterious powers and strange ethereal beings called Salutors.

The year is 1905. Warsaw lives under the yoke of the Imperial Russian Tsardom. Its inhabitants are a diverse group of different ancestries, views, and beliefs with often conflicting interests: Russian soldiers, Jewish merchants, Polish citizens, and more. Despite the circumstances, the city is a vibrant metropolis where you can attend a breathtaking party with high society and later get robbed in one of the dark alleys of the Praga district. A city of great hopes and dreams on the one hand, and dark desires on the other. In this world, one force that cannot be ignored are the thaumaturges – individuals skilled in the taming of spirit-like beings called Salutors, used to manipulate the temperaments and affinities of other people, and ultimately even in combat. The devil is in the details – only thaumaturges are fully aware of the nature of Salutors, and only they can perceive them in their true essence. Their ability to influence others greatly and demonstrably increases their ability to change the world around them, but thaumaturgy is a power that is not fully understood.

As a full-fledged role-playing game, it allows you to change your choices and deal with the consequences. Creating your version of the Thaumaturge allows you to approach situations differently. Defeat your enemies in turn-based combat using human attacks, skills, and psychic strikes delivered by Salutors. Influence and manipulate other characters’ temperaments to bend their will to your will. Use their unique abilities to gain an advantage as you explore the world and bring your enemies to their knees. Explore the unusual, heavily researched historical period of early XX century Warsaw, where crime and luxury are often two sides of the same coin. Meet historical figures and learn about their involvement in the story, created in Unreal Engine 5 to deliver a detailed and beautifully crafted world.

The Thaumaturge will be released on PC on December 5th (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store), followed by PlayStation 5 and Xbox consoles in early 2024.
