Will Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Miss A Popular Gameplay Option At Launch?

Insomniac Games’ title is said to be missing something that we see in virtually every major AAA title (albeit sometimes behind a paywall: such will be the case with Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, which we wrote about earlier).

It’s been five years since the first Marvel’s Spider-Man was released on PlayStation 4, but since then we’ve seen the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (essentially a standalone add-on for the first episode), as well as a PlayStation 5 remaster of the first episode. Both games have since been released on PC (and both were of decent quality at launch!), but the sequel is coming soon, and the embargo on reviews is about to be lifted.

Fans have already voiced concerns about how long it will take to achieve the Platinum trophy for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, while the game is said to be bigger and more expansive than the first installment. It seems to be faster to get from point A to point B, the animations are more sophisticated, the game world is about twice the size, there are lots of easter eggs, but according to a tweet there will be no New Game+ (NG+).

At least we can’t expect it at launch. He had a chance to play through the game, which he already platinumed, so he has experience with Insomniac Games’ next game (which he completed in about 30 hours to 100%). It’s a bit of a mystery why there won’t be a second playthrough with the skills and powers we’ve gained so far, so we can replay the story on a harder level. It is possible that it will come with the first day update (since he didn’t have access to it yet).

Insomniac Games hasn’t confirmed or denied the rumor from the tweet, so until they say something about it, it’s best to wait and see. We won’t have to wait much longer, as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be released on PlayStation 5 on October 20, with a PC port coming in 2024, possibly 2025.
