Xbox Snags Two New RPGs as Exclusives from PlayStation 5?!

For a long time, PC, PlayStation and Xbox have all benefited from Bethesda’s development, but the tide is slowly shifting.

In September 2020, Microsoft will buy Bethesda’s parent company ZeniMax Media for $7.5 billion. This will fundamentally change the gaming industry: famous series like Fallout or The Elder Scrolls will soon be at the top of the Xbox priority list. However, established titles like Fallout 4 and Skyrim will still be available on multiple platforms.

Additionally, Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo were originally PlayStation exclusives under previous agreements, but are now also available on Xbox Game Pass. The change began to be felt when games like Redfall and Starfield became Xbox exclusives. But PlayStation fans can take comfort in the fact that they won’t be missing out on Redfall.

There’s also a good chance that The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 will be coming to Xbox in the near future. Recently, during legal negotiations between Microsoft and the FTC, details of Activision’s acquisition of Blizzard revealed plans for remastered versions of Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

With Microsoft now owning Bethesda, it is almost certain that these remasters will also be released as Xbox and PC exclusives. Although the original games were released on PS3, there is a small glimmer of hope that they could debut on modern PlayStation consoles. However, this may not be the case.

Colt Eastwood claimed in an episode of the XNC podcast that the two remastered games will be exclusive to Xbox. However, if this news is indeed true, it would hardly shock many.

It’s important to note that nothing has technically been taken away from PlayStation, as neither remaster has been announced. However, if Microsoft had not acquired Bethesda, both remasters would probably be available on both platforms. However, this information should be treated as rumor until confirmed.

All in all, Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion are already compatible with the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles, and the Xbox Game Pass offers all the DLC for the games.
