Fallout 76: PlayStation Players Run into Issues!

Bethesda Game Studios’ online game is bringing the typical Bethesda pile of bugs, and PlayStation Plus subscribers are already upset that the next-gen update for Fallout 4 was essentially not free for them.

Players of Fallout 76 have been complaining about the game crashing frequently since early May, and it seems to be tied to the game’s current seasonal event, Invaders from Beyond. This is the fifth time it’s running, and it started on April 30th and runs through May 14th at 12pm Eastern Time. The rewards include many rare crafting blueprints, so it’s worth players pulling out the 2018 title.

But perhaps too many have done so. Stability is also a bit of an issue for Xbox One players in Invaders from Beyond, but they’re not as numerous as PlayStation players. For those playing on the Xbox series or PC, there are few complaints, so it’s mainly PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 that are affected. (Is this because Bethesda is owned by Microsoft? Or are we just looking into the case too much?) The third and final segment of the event is the defeat of General Zeta, and it’s here that both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 tend to quit the game with an error message.

This may have been a bug in the past, but there was not much interest in Bethesda Game Studios’ game at the time, so it was less common. Now, however, Amazon’s Fallout series has led to a surge of interest in the franchise (we reported that the four modern Fallouts all made Steam Deck’s Top 20 in April), which is why Microsoft wants Fallout 5 to be made soon, while the second season of the series has been greenlit.

So it looks like Fallout 76 will continue to bring the bugs that Bethesda has been known for for decades (no joke!)…
