According to the American IGN and many other gamer sites, this is the worst campaign in the history of the series.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will not be judged solely on its campaign, as multiplayer is the main reason fans play the game. However, the first reviews completely condemn the single-player experience, which sounds like the worst solo mode in the history of the series – yes, even worse than the infamous Call of Duty: Ghosts.
We’ll give a full review once we’ve had a chance to play the multiplayer mode, but IGN describes it as a horrible experience, which is said to last around four hours. “Modern Warfare 3’s campaign commits the biggest sin possible for a globe-trotting action thriller: it’s boring” – writes the site’s conclusion. “It’s a pale imitation of the past, consisting of undercooked story moments clashing with attempts to introduce new open-ended combat missions that encourage player freedom, which instead fall on their faces”
The article adds wryly, “If this is the quality we expect from Call of Duty campaigns, perhaps it’s best they take a year or two to reboot and raise this low bar back to its old heights.”
Sure, this Call of Duty was originally rumored to be released as an expansion, but instead it was repackaged and flanged as a full game. This is evidenced by the title’s PS5 trophy list, which lists Modern Warfare 3 gongs as DLC for Modern Warfare 2. We’ll have our full review up soon, but it’s not looking good guys.
