MOVIE NEWS – For Geeked Week 2023, Netflix has released a brand new trailer for Zack Snyder’s upcoming sci-fi epic, Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire.

 

 

A new trailer for the movie Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire has arrived. Zack Snyder’s upcoming Netflix film is a sci-fi epic, followed four months later by a sequel, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver. The films will follow the fate of Kora (Sofia Boutella), a former leader of the Imperium who has turned against the army controlled by the corrupt Mother World. He travels the galaxy to assemble a team of warriors capable of fighting back against the regime.

As part of Geeked Week 2023, Netflix has released a new trailer for the film, more than a month before the release date of Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire.

The trailer opens with a quiet character moment of Kora explaining that she was found in the wreckage of a ship before her redemption. However, the ship’s ominous arrival brings with it a dangerous enemy who wants “everything”. Thus begins the conflict between the peaceful farming community and the forces led by Admiral Atticus Noble (Ed Skrein). Full of fierce battles and high-level action.

 

Will the new Rebel Moon trailer be enough to get viewers excited?

 

As the release date approaches, building as much hype as possible around the Rebel Moon movies is essential. In addition to opening the franchise with a couple of movies, there are also plans to build a broader, bigger universe around these titles. This already includes a prequel comic series. As well as an animated series and a narrative podcast. All of these explore the mythology of the overarching universe.

Zack Snyder also revealed that Rebel Moon is set in the same universe as Netflix’s previous film, Army of the Dead.

Being successful enough to support so many spinoffs is a tall order for any new franchise. However, Snyder has a solid fan base. This was already proven by Warner Bros. launching a successful campaign to get the director additional funds to restore his vision for 2017’s Justice League. However, the director’s only films to date that weren’t based on an existing film, book or comic are Sucker Punch (which is his lowest-grossing film) and Army of the Dead (which has already had a spinoff series cancelled by Netflix).

However, this Rebel Moon – Part One trailer shows just how much epic sci-fi mayhem Snyder wants to pack into just one part of the universe.

The video above amps up the action considerably. It also gives a deeper look into characters like Kora and Charlie Hunnam’s Kai. These trailers can help generate enough fan interest. The fact that the film’s actors can promote the cinema after the Screen Actors Guild strike can also contribute to this. However, it remains to be seen how the dual release will perform. Also, whether they can maintain such a broad franchise…
