Will This Actress Play Abby In The Last Of Us Season 2?!

MOVIE NEWS – If all is true, an actress has been found for the controversial role of Abby, who recently gave a memorable performance in a promising horror film…

The always-divisive Abby Anderson will appear in the second season of HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us. According to reports, not much is on paper yet. But the showrunners may be close to signing Kaitlyn Dever, who recently starred in No One Will Save You.

The Last of Us, originally a 2013 live-action adaptation of the game series 2023, was an unprecedented success for HBO. It reached millions of viewers in its first season. It immediately became one of HBO’s top IPs.

As a result, you may have been eagerly awaiting any tidbits of information about the highly anticipated second season. The season will follow the events of The Last of Us Part 2 and, thus, the events involving Abby’s controversial character.

Although showrunner Craig Mazin hinted back in August that the role had been cast, no official announcement has yet been made as to who will step into Abby’s shoes.

Now, the latest news is that there is a clear contender for the post. According to former Variety reporter Jeff Sneider, 26-year-old Kaitlyn Dever is reportedly in talks for the controversial role. Of course, the report should be treated with caveats for now. But Sneider’s sources have proven primarily reliable in the past. Plus, as he pointed out, Mazin currently follows Dever on Instagram. This lends some credence to the idea that she could be Abby.

Previously, Dever was even up for the role of Ellie, which was eventually given to Bella Ramsey. So, the showrunners obviously know her acting skills. The actress most recently stole the spotlight in Netflix’s No One Will Save You, a quiet role that captivated thriller fans worldwide. The American actress has also appeared in films such as Dopesick, Booksmart, and perhaps most interestingly, she was cast as Cassie Drake in Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4. It’s a game close to director Neil Druckmann’s heart.

According to the report, no deal has been made yet, but with the news coming out, it may only be a matter of time before we hear something one way or another.

Filming for Season 2 is set to begin on January 7, 2024. That leaves only a tiny window of time to finalise the remaining cast.
