Jason Momoa’s Mysterious Future in the DC Universe – Will He Be Aquaman or Lobo? [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Jason Momoa, one of the most popular characters in the DC Universe, is about to enter a new chapter. After Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the question is: will Momoa leave the underwater hero and return as a new character? In recent statements, he has hinted at his future role.

With the current incarnation of the DC Universe coming to an end, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be the final installment in a franchise that is no longer evolving. This film could yet salvage the series’ reputation if it is successful. Several reports have surfaced that Jason Momoa is bidding farewell to Aquaman, but will remain in the DC Universe, possibly in the role of Lobo. The actor recently hinted at this in an interview.

Momoa appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show, where he was asked by Jimmy Fallon about the Aquaman sequel. Fallon asked if there would be a third installment in the series. Momoa replied, “It’s kind of the end, yes, the end of the DC Universe for me. But… I think… We’ve done this before, where viewers have liked something… But yeah… I’ll still have a place at DC.” Fallon continued to question Momoa, but she simply said, “They love me.” It looks like Momoa will remain in the DC Universe, but The Lost Kingdom will likely be the last time she appears as Aquaman.

We’ve received information from a reliable source that James Gunn and his team have parted ways with many of their old cast members for the reboot, but Momoa will be kept on, only not as Aquaman, but in the character of Lobo. This is in line with what we heard officially earlier this year that Momoa had been in talks with Gunn and DC Studios head Peter Safran about his future. Momoa said, “I’ll always be Aquaman. No one can take anything away from me. There can be other characters. I can play other roles. Fun, wild and charming characters.” The big question now is when Momoa’s transformation into Lobo will be officially announced. It will probably be revealed after the premiere of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The film will be released in Hungary on December 21.
