Titled God of War Ragnarok Valhalla, the update sees Kratos and Mimir travel to the eponymous Viking afterlife to battle enemies from the past in a roguelike setting that could set the stage for a rumored God of War semi-sequel. God of War fans have already spotted some interesting details in the Valhalla trailer, including some references to Kratos’ original adventures in ancient Greece.

Now players can battle their way through God of War Ragnarok’s new Valhalla DLC, as both it and its accompanying 05.01 update are available at the time of this writing. Santa Monica Studio announced the news with a post on its official Twitter account, revealing the timing of the rollout of both updates, along with a message to fans for their reactions to the roguelike’s Valhalla campaign. In addition to the new DLC, Update 05.01 makes some technical fixes to God of War Ragnarok, such as fixing a bug with Kratos’ new Draupnir spear.

Santa Monica Studio also recommends that players make sure the God of War Ragnarok base game is fully installed on their PS5 before launching Valhalla, otherwise they may get stuck on an endless loading screen. The God of War Ragnarok Valhalla DLC adds a new trophy list for players to challenge even the most skilled would-be Spartans with punishing roguelike combat. In fact, God of War Ragnarok Valhalla features a new level of difficulty that no member of the Santa Monica Studio has beaten before.
