Dead By Daylight: Alan Wake Hops Into A Few Matches! [VIDEO]

In a few hours, the legendary Remedy Entertainment character will make an appearance on the game’s PTB (Public Test Build).

Behaviour Interactive has announced that Alan Wake will be the new playable survivor in the final chapter of the game. He’ll appear in the Public Test Build of the PC version available on Steam today at 8am PT. “We are thrilled to bring Alan Wake, our tortured author, into the acclaimed Dead by Daylight. We feel that the lore of our two horror experiences is a match made in the Dark Place and can’t wait to experience the horrors that await him in the Fog,” Remedy Entertainment creative director Sam Lake said in a statement.

Alan Wake’s likeness is based on the character’s physical actor, Ilkka Villi, and of course the chapter wouldn’t be complete without Alan Wake’s iconic voice, brought to life in-game by Matthew Porretta. He reprised his role for Dead by Daylight and recorded a number of original lines and screams, so yes, that’s Alan Wake you’re hearing screaming. He also recorded material for several marketing assets, including the chapter launch trailer, CGI trailer, and spotlight trailer.

Hardened by his harrowing encounters in Bright Falls and beyond, Alan Wake has developed several keen survival skills, manifested here as his three character perks. The first is the Champion of Light, which gives you extra movement speed while you shine a flashlight. If you can successfully blind a killer, they will gain the Hindered status effect, which temporarily slows them down. If you really want the Killer to be afraid of light, pair this perk with Haddie Kaur’s Residual Manifest, which gives him the Blindness status effect.

Use Boon: Illumination to create a Boon Totem, which allows all nearby Survivors to see the auras of generators and chests across the map. When you have an illuminated Boon Totem, you’ll also be able to cleanse and bless Totems faster. Try this along with Haddie Kaur’s Overzealous to increase your efficiency on Generators after you have scouted them.

Sometimes you just have to write through a hand cramp. Deadline activates when you’re injured and increases the frequency of Skill Checks while healing survivors or repairing Generators. If you happen to miss one, the penalty is halved. This perk will pair nicely with synergistic Skill Check-related perks (use the in-game search bar to narrow down your favorite available options), which could allow for some interesting loadouts.

Alan is a good addition.
