Plot details for the Blade MCU movie may have leaked online. Some fans are already worried about an alleged element of the Mahershala Ali movie.

The Blade MCU reboot is finally on the horizon! This marks the entry of the iconic vampire hunter into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Studios aims to reimagine the character. Multiple Oscar winner Ali has confirmed that he will play the lead role. Yann Demange is directing the film, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is producing. Thus, the Blade’s MCU debut in Phase Five could be a big hit. However, there are few specific details about the reboot for now.

But according to Daniel RPK’s Patreon post, the new Blade will be R-rated like the original films and a period piece, revolving around the evil Lilith, who bids for the blood of Blade’s daughter to create an army of daytime bloodsuckers.

His weapon is said to be the supernatural “Ebony Blade”. These rumoured details give some idea of the film’s tone and story direction. Of course, Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed them.

In a Reddit post by user Louis_DCVN, some fans expressed growing concern and criticism that Blade seems to continue the apparent trend of many original MCU heroes being replaced or succeeded by younger, often female, heroes. Recent examples include Clint Barton training Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop to take on the mantle of Hawkeye in the Disney Plus series. Then there’s Riri Williams, who invented her own advanced armour to follow in Iron Man’s footsteps as Ironheart. Letitia Wright’s tech genius Shuri took over the role of Black Panther after Chadwick Boseman’s tragic real-life death. Even Scott Lang’s daughter Cassie showed off her size-shifting abilities in the recent Ant and the Wasp movie. One day, she will probably succeed her father and take the place of the new generation Ant.

There is nothing new – and nothing objectionable in itself – that characters occasionally pass the baton to someone else.

Sometimes, a fresh approach can work well. But the fans’ concerns also have some legitimate weight. There is a danger of oversaturation if this technique is applied too liberally to already-beloved heroes to whom the audience is attached. In Blade’s big MCU entry, the character has to walk the delicate line of feeling exciting and new. At the same time, he should be faithful and authentic enough to the essence that has made him so beloved by fans for decades. Depending on the implementation, it can be a huge success but also an ugly failure.

The film is scheduled to debut in theatres on November 7, 2025.
