iOS 18: Apple To Boost Sales In China With AI?

TECH NEWS – After the Chinese Communist Party’s crackdown on the iPhone (pushing domestic manufacturers such as Huawei), the US tech giant is trying to regain a foothold in the Asian country without losing the profits it had expected to make.

In iOS 18, there will be many new features using artificial intelligence, and there will certainly be some that can only be accessed in the iPhone 16 lineup. The A18 chip with a more advanced Neural Engine chip (AI accelerator) will be found in these devices. The goal for the Cupertino-based company will certainly be to win back the Chinese market. We’ve heard before that Huawei and other Chinese manufacturers have started a big competition in the important market for Apple.

Since then, Apple has been on a downward trend in China, and the state party’s ban (government employees are not allowed to use iPhones) has played a role in this. However, behind a paywall, DigiTimes reported that Apple has been struggling in the Chinese market since the beginning of the year, as there is no innovation in terms of design, and artificial intelligence features are missing from all four models of the iPhone 15.

It’s not just Huawei that’s causing Apple problems, but also foldable smartphones from Oppo and Samsung. In December, sales in the Asian country fell by 13%, but the situation has worsened since then, with reports that the company has already seen a 40% drop in sales in recent weeks. Artificial intelligence is certainly playing a role. However, AI will not be left out of the new iOS and iPhone, so the company may be able to turn around its current not-so-positive situation in China this fall.

Image editing and animation, as well as Siri and Spotlight trained on large language models (LLMs)… Apple is doing everything it can to not only sell iPhones in the West, but also to keep the phone popular in China.
