Stellar Blade: The Demo Is Out; How Does It Perform? [VIDEO]

Shift Up’s game is just over a month away from release, but the demo has finally been released after it leaked onto the PlayStation Store (and we reported on it earlier), but how does it perform?

The demo was available before, as someone at Shift Up or Sony took a look at it, but the latter company quickly noticed and took down the demo, which a lucky few were able to try out. We get to experience the first chapter of the game, which provides about 1-2 hours of gameplay. Here is the description of the demo

“The demo takes place from the very beginning of the game, when Eve, a member of the 7th Airborne Squad, is sent to Earth on a mission to reclaim the planet from the Naytiba, to the first boss fight. This first phase includes the tutorial phase, which will help you familiarize yourself with the basic combat functions as you explore post-war Eidos 7, a human city now infested by the Naytiba, giving you an early grasp of the gameplay mechanics that will serve you throughout the game’s story. We have also included a little surprise for players who complete the first stage”.

ElAnalistaDeBits’ analysis is embedded below, and he says that both the Performance and Quality graphics modes are capable of delivering good results (although it’s common these days for only one of them to deliver what we expect). Performance mode runs at around 1440p resolution with a stable 60 fps even during action-packed scenes, with a maximum of 1-2 frame drops at worst. Resolution mode aims for native 4K, while holding steady at 30 FPS. The balance between the two is a bit weak. With TAA upscaling, the resolution jumps from 1440p to 4K and very rarely drops below 50 fps, so it could be a good choice if you’re playing on a VRR-capable display. The difference in image quality between the three modes doesn’t seem to be significant.

Stellar Blade will be released on PlayStation 5 on April 26th.
