The Person Who Threatened Nintendo Live 2024 Might Have Been Arrested

Nintendo has recently canceled several events that were to be held in Tokyo, citing security reasons as a priority for the safety of the public, but now we hear that the person making the threats has had his wrists handcuffed.

A Japanese newspaper, the Kyoto Shimbun, reported on 4Gamer that the person making the threats is a man in his twenties who works as a government employee in Ibaraki Prefecture. He is suspected of having sent several death threats through Nintendo’s official website in 2023 in an attempt to thwart the Big N’s business. It is not known why he did this, but it is known that Nintendo announced last December that they had to cancel some events in Tokyo due to security reasons.

The Splatoon Koshien 2023 National Finals and Nintendo Live 2024 were canceled by Nintendo because the company said it could not adequately ensure the safety of consumers. The former was scheduled to be held at the Ota Sogo Gymnasium in Tokyo on December 16 and 17, while the latter was scheduled to be held at the Big Sight Exhibition Center in Tokyo on January 20 and 21. The Splatoon 3 World Championship and the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe World Championship scheduled for Nintendo Live 2024 will be held in April.

In 2022, Nintendo Live returned to Japan after the pandemic, and the Japanese company’s fan festival was such a hit that the big N eventually launched it elsewhere. Nintendo Live 2023 was in the United States, with the company hosting the event in Seattle last September. There were several Nintendo Switch games to try out, but there were also live performances, tournaments, photo opportunities, and other activities to take part in. When will Nintendo do something like that in Europe? Maybe the company will.

It is incomprehensible why the young man in his twenties decided to cross everyone with his threats, but hopefully he will get his comeuppance in a fair way, because it is bad to joke about such things.
