Destiny 2: The Final Shape is coming this summer, and after that, the next new additions to the franchise will be revealed…
It was time to introduce the next new features coming to the game and, at the same time, regain the trust of the community. The creators of Destiny 2 knew this very well, so they took advantage of the first official trailer for the next expansion, which promises to be one of the most important in the game’s history, to answer the questions that arose. Not only have they assured us that “The Final Shape” won’t be the last primary content the title will receive. They also opened the door to the release of the new part of the “looter shooter”.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape will be released on June 4, 2024, on all platforms, and after that, it’s just a matter of how long Bungie wants to wait to reveal the next instalment.
However, it doesn’t look like the developer or the community will be in a hurry. Indeed, the new expansion announced some welcome changes as well as some exciting new content and mechanics.
The most significant expansion in the history of Destiny 2
Among the most significant innovations in The Final Shape is the use of powers that combine light and darkness. The appearance of new enemy types, as well as the increased power of combat abilities, which allow for more spectacular battles. However, none of the novelties presented so far have attracted as much interest as the possibility of creating “Custom Guardians” combining the properties of different subclasses. This is something the community has been asking for for years, and Bungie has finally implemented it.
This latest expansion could herald a new heyday for Bungie’s game. The expansion announcement, along with new content coming thanks to an update called “Into the Light” that keeps our attention up to the expansion, has seen the game register more than 130,000 concurrent players on Steam (Via SteamDB). That number isn’t the best number in the game’s history, but it’s three times the best number achieved in February.
