Resident Evil 1: Another Remake in Capcom’s Workshop?

No, that’s not a random number or a typo in the title: we actually put the number one there, so there are rumors that a new episode of the survival horror that first appeared on the PS1 in 1996 and was remade for the GameCube in 2002 could be on its way.

When we recently reported on who the main character of Resident Evil 9 might be, a possible Resident Evil 1 logo appeared in a related tweet. It could be a photoshopped image, but since the font is the same as the one Capcom used in the remakes of 2, 3 and 4, it’s probably a leak that could reveal Capcom’s plans.

So, Resident Evil 9 will feature an older Leon S. Kennedy (he’ll be 48 years old, and the story takes place in the summer of 2025) and will reportedly be released in 2025. Probably in the first quarter of that year, between January and March. There will also be a Resident Evil in the following fiscal year, as @PRE_Alarabiya says Resident Evil 1 will arrive in 2026, as director Masachika Kawata previously said Capcom is doing something special for the 30th anniversary.

So Chris Redfield’s trilogy could be revisited from the beginning, as his story started with the first part, then continued with Code Veronica, and it could be wrapped up with the long talked about Resident Evil 5 Remake, which is still to come with Resident Evil: Village Lord Heisenberg even referred to it during the boss fight (calling Chris a “boulder punching a_shole”, referring to the meme that was created from it, as it is actually a QTE at the end of RE5…).

According to a comment on Reddit, there will be a Resident Evil episode every year until 2029: in 2025 there will be 9, in 2026 there will be 1, in 2027 there will be Code Veronica Remake, in 2028 there will be Remake 5, and in 2029 there will be Resident Evil 10. But it’s not official.
