MOVIE NEWS – Ryan Reynolds is already attacking Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman, whom he called a “liar” and a “coward”…
Only a few months left until the release of Deadpool & Wolverine! That means it’s time for plenty of trash-talking between the film’s leads, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. The online “feud” between the pair began long before Jackman returned to the big screen as Wolverine. But with the film’s release date approaching, Reynolds has now come up with yet another attack on his best pal.
Jackman’s return to the role of Wolverine surprised many for the simple reason that in 2017, with the release of Logan, he nailed his claws.
This departure from the Marvel X-Men franchise comes just a year after Reynolds successfully brought Deadpool to theatres in his first solo film. In connection with this, Jackman has since said that he really regretted that he “retired” from the role. Now, his reversal has given Reynolds ammunition to call him a “coward” and a “liar.” All of this in jest, of course.
Speaking to AP Entertainment, Reynolds went after Jackman. More than likely, there will be a retrenchment at some point in the near future. Reynolds said:
“Well, I mean, I think we all can now see that Hugh is a liar, you know? A bald-faced horrible coward and a liar. Here he is, back again. You’ll have to find out how he comes back, because that’s one of the most fun aspects of the movie.”
While some fans still appreciate the way the two guys tease each other, not minding acting for the sake of social media, others find the constant fake animosity between them boring.
However, it seems that this bandwagon cannot be stopped, especially now that the premiere is so close…
Could female versions of Deadpool and Wolverine come to the MCU?!
New Deadpool and Wolverine fan art welcomes female versions of the titular superheroes to the MCU. This artwork comes as rumours of their possible appearance in the upcoming film intensify.
The new artwork courtesy of arifinity_ (see Instagram link below!) features X-23 and Lady Deadpool in striking comic book costumes. This creative choice represents a significant evolution of Jackman’s Wolverine. For the first time in the MCU, we will see him in his iconic yellow and blue outfit.
Meanwhile, the portrayal of the older X-23 signals a fresh narrative direction, as the younger version, played by Dafne Keen, was last seen in 2017’s Logan.
The inclusion of Lady Deadpool and X-23 in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine could bring a fresh perspective to the film. As the MCU heads into its fifth phase, the film offers an opportunity for fan-favourite female superheroes from the comics to get screen time.
Deadpool & Wolverine takes place against the backdrop of the Time Variance Authority’s mission. This brings the titular characters through different time planes.
The multiverse setting is ripe for introducing different versions of familiar characters, so it would be a seamless way for Lady Deadpool and X-23 to possibly debut.
X-23, aka Laura, was brilliantly portrayed by Keen in 2017’s Logan. Although D&W is believed to take place before the events of Logan, this does not rule out Keen returning as a version of X-23. The multiverse concept allows for many possibilities, including different ages or iterations of the same character. All of this could mean we’re seeing an older, more experienced version of X-23. Alternatively, the role could be recast to fit this new narrative.
