Mark Zuckerberg Releases New Meta AI Model and Criticizes Apple! [VIDEO]

TECH NEWS – In the future imagined by Mark Zuckerberg, something is happening that could, at first glance, be called Skynet.

Meta has released a new open source artificial intelligence model with 405 billion parameters. It’s called Llama 3.1, and it’s supposed to be the largest open source model. Zuck, of course, has started marketing it on YouTube, including appearances on Bloomberg and Rowan Cheung, and says it is the most sophisticated open source model anyone has released, and can compete with several leading closed models, and in some areas Llama can even be called the frontrunner. He also called out Apple:

“Open source is a really important part of a positive AI future. Open source is an important part of how we make sure that this benefits everybody and isn’t something that’s locked into a handful of big companies. It’s a little bit soul crushing when you build features that you think are good for your community and then you’re told you can’t ship them because some company wants to put you in a box so they can better compete with you. My concern about AI right now isn’t really Apple. It’s other companies and how that would play out. I’m not even saying they’re bad people, it’s just the physics and the incentive structure of the system,” Zuck said.

Social media platforms, meanwhile, prioritize user engagement and squeezing money out of users over their mental health or political and social stability. This is all that needs to be added to the physics or incentive structure of the system. And what does he think about the social implications of AI? He thinks there will be AI-generated comments underneath the AI-generated content. According to Zuckerberg, one of the most interesting uses for Meta’s AI is role-playing with people in difficult social situations.
