Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra: Amy Hennig’s Next Game Has Found a Publisher!

Amy Hennig, who previously worked on Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Uncharted, has been without a publisher for so long, but Skydance New Media has found one.

The story-driven superhero ensemble adventure game has finally secured a publisher, which is odd because the release is at worst a year and a half away, and we usually find out who the publisher is for a project of this caliber much earlier. In this case it’s Plaion, which used to be Koch Media, and they also own Deep Silver, so it’s part of the Embracer Group, which is split into three parts.

“We are proud to be working with Skydance Games and industry legend Amy Hennig on one of the most anticipated AAA games in development today. This partnership between two ambitious independent companies is a testament to Plaion’s ongoing mission to become a global force in video game publishing,” said Plaion CEO Klemens Kundratitz in a press release. “We believe Plaion is the perfect publishing partner for the multiplatform, worldwide release of Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra. For our studio’s debut title, we’re creating an original Marvel story under the direction of Amy Hennig. We’re thrilled to have found a global publisher that shares our ambitious vision for the project,” added Skydance Games co-president Julian Beak.

Marvel Games head Haluk Mentes said, “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an exquisite and bold take on some of our most beloved and timeless characters. The world-class development talent of Skydance Games and the global publishing capabilities of Plaion are an excellent team to ensure we deliver on the tremendous promise of this game. We look forward to working together to bring Marvel 1943 to gamers around the world.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will be released sometime in 2025 (which is why we said a year and a half at the latest), but we still don’t know what platforms it will be released on. Is it because of the Nintendo Switch successor that you haven’t listed the target platforms yet?
