MOVIE NEWS – Transformers One has been well received: the animated prequel that tells the origin story of the shape-shifting robots enriches the 40-year-old franchise with new colors and takes a step forward in terms of film technology.

This immediately sparked talk of sequels, which producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently confirmed in an interview with ComicBook.com. “The assumptions were correct; we’re indeed planning a trilogy. The character development needs more exploration, and we already know what the second and third parts will be about. Since the story is character-driven, we have a real treasure trove to fully exploit.” Transformers One tells the story of how the two main heroes of the robot universe, Optimus Prime and Megatron, went from friends to enemies, affecting the fate of the galaxy. The film is entirely computer-animated and, according to those who’ve seen it, offers such a stunning visual experience that it sets a new path for the genre.
