MOVIE NEWS – Brad Pitt shared profound thoughts about the “last legs” of his career…
Don’t worry, Brad Pitt isn’t done filming yet, despite his “last legs” comment. Fans will soon be able to see the Oscar-winning actor alongside friend and colleague George Clooney in director Jon Watts’ upcoming film Wolfs. However, as recently as June 2022, the A-list actor referred to himself as being on the “last legs” of his career (according to GQ), but that hardly seems to be the case.
After all, the 60-year-old actor is still extremely active in Hollywood, both as a performer and producer.
And in a brand new cover story, Pitt clarifies what he meant by “last legs” and how he feels about working in Tinseltown going forward. Pitt said (via GQ):
“I meant that as seasons. You know, there was moving out of the safety of the Ozarks. You embark on this thing and it’s all about discovery, and it’s fascinating and interesting and painful and awful and all of it. And then when you’re allowed into the big leagues, it becomes another game of responsibilities and things to answer to. But also, opportunity and delight and working with people you really respect. And then it’s this time now.”
Pitt continued:
“It’s: What are these last years going to be? Because I see my parents are very — I see just what George [Clooney] was explaining. In your 80s, the body becomes more frail. And yet I look at Frank Gehry [architect and designer]. He’s just the loveliest man. And he’s 95 and still making great art. And he’s got a beautiful family. And I think that’s kind of the formula to stay creative and keep loving your life.”
Brad Pitt Reveals: ‘I’m Still Kind of on the Same Trajectory’
Wolfs is set to star Brad Pitt and George Clooney, whose undeniable on-screen chemistry is indisputable after a string of casino crime adventure films that began more than 20 years ago with Ocean’s Eleven (2001). Although they are now trying to inject the closeness and uniqueness of their real-life friendship into the new film, neither A-list star plans to slow down their careers – at least not too much. Pitt elaborated further in the same interview he took part in alongside Clooney:
“Well, now I’m doing one movie in a year and a half [laughter]. Well, I’m still kind of on the same trajectory. I feel the same. I’m really just trying to enjoy the people that I love around me and just living. [He gestures out at the vineyard]”
“I don’t know how not to sound cheesy about it, but just the air is fresh, and grass is green. And I’ve just kind of become that guy a little bit. You start to understand this idea of mortality [Clooney laughs knowingly] and that it is something we all have to deal with. You just become more aware of it.”
Pitt’s critically acclaimed film career has resulted in a resume that is one of the most impressive ever assembled. He has been nominated for a total of four Academy Awards for acting (12 Monkeys, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Moneyball) and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. In 2013, he shared the Oscar for best film with the creative team working on the film 12 Years a Slave.
