If the game hasn’t even been released yet, and there’s already something in it that many people think is a bad idea, and the developer doesn’t even bother to say anything about it, then it seems like the developers don’t care…
In this year’s Call of Duty, you will be able to take a player hostage, hold them as a “meat shield” and communicate with them while doing so. Treyarch, one of the development teams behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, explained that the hostage-taker and the hostage are close enough to each other that they think it would be a good idea to have communication between the two.
But that’s where the problem starts, that this will be in multiplayer modes, and Treyarch just said “be nice”. The Twitter audience was outraged. Some are sarcastically eager to have a derogatory word shouted into their ears for the thousandth time, while others think this might be the most toxic innovation in Call of Duty in recent years. It has to be the worst when a teenager who plays it for hours every day grabs you and starts screaming at you in a hormone-fueled rage, not taking into account that the other player is also made of human…
Fortunately for us, Treyarch has confirmed that this option will be turned off, but we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s on by default in this episode of Call of Duty, so if we remember to turn it off, we’ll definitely get some unpleasant phrases at first. In any case, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 pre-order beta is currently underway, with the open beta running from September 6-9.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released on October 25th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will also be available immediately on Xbox Game Pass.
