It seems that the Steam player numbers really do reflect the overall interest in Firewalk’s PlayStation 5 and PC game…
IGN has reported how bad Concord’s hay looks. According to Omdia’s principal analyst Liam Deane, the concurrent player count data we’ve seen on Steam is so bad that even without knowing the PlayStation Network data, we can be sure the game is simply underperforming. PSN doesn’t have a public data site like SteamDB does for Steam… but some other analysts may shed some light on Sony’s dark side.
According to Circana (formerly NPD Group) analyst Mat Piscatella, on Monday, August 26th, Concord was ranked 147th on PlayStation 5 on Circana’s player tracking platform. Less than 0.2% of the day’s active PS5 players were playing the hero shooter! According to Simon Carless, newsletter editor at GameDiscover.co, Concord has sold around 10,000 (!) copies on Steam so far, while the $40 game has sold 15,000 (!!!) copies on PlayStation 5. In total, the game has sold around 25,000 units, which is unbelievably low for a PlayStation exclusive!
I feel like something was lost between concept art and in-game models

Meanwhile, Reddit is also discussing how some of the original concept art for the Concord characters is not as nice as some of the others. In particular, Emari’s appearance has been cut back. You can see the concept art and the final model side by side, and you can see that the original model had some things that the public liked, but ultimately we won’t see them on PlayStation 5 and PC. The armor and design aren’t that appealing either, and even though you can customize the characters to your liking, there’s no way to make Emari look the way Firewalk Studios envisioned her back in the day.
On the other hand, if Concord has generated such low sales, we can’t imagine how little time the game will have, because the live service model needs a larger and more stable player base…
