Slitterhead: Julee and Alex Shine on Stage [VIDEO]

Two Rarities from Slitterhead have been introduced, giving you more variety in the game depending on your playing style.

Among humans, there are those who share a strong synchronization with Hyoki, known as Rarities. Alex and Julee, two Rarities that Hyoki meets in the story. Critically wounded and on the verge of death, Julee was saved by Hyoki and became the first Rarity. Shrouded in mystery, she dons a hood and mask and wields deadly blood claws to ferociously eliminate the Slitterheads that threaten humanity. A mysterious figure known as “The Hunter,” Alex hides his identity behind a full-face helmet and wields a shotgun while riding his motorcycle, relentlessly pursuing the Slitterheads in the shadows. By day, he is a skilled surgeon who operates in the underworld of Kowlong.

Each Rarity has different abilities. They can be used to unleash powerful moves in battle, while some provide beneficial effects simply by having them. Active abilities are assigned to a character. These skills can be used by pressing the Skill Button to activate them. Some require you to deplete your Health Points (HP) to unleash powerful attacks, while others require you to use your Spirit to activate helpful abilities such as restoring your Health Points. Some active abilities can be transferred and used even if you possess a normal human. As you progress through the game, you will be able to choose which Rarities to take on each mission (some missions can only be played with certain Rarities). The active skills of the Rarities you choose will be available when possessing normal humans, and will become “Common Skills”.

Julie has the following abilities. Revive All (active skill) increases the blood in her own body. Continuously restore blood levels (HP) for a set amount of time. Also heals nearby people and instantly revives people on the verge of death. Sonic Claws (Active Skill) uses blood claws to create a forward-moving shockwave. Hold the Skill Button to charge, then release it to unleash the shockwave. Blood Ripper (Common Skill) throws a small blade of blood. Adds a “slow” effect while dealing damage. Affected enemies have their movement speed reduced for a set amount of time. Effective for chases.

Alex’s skills include the following Blood Well (Active Skill) creates a gravitational field of blood that draws enemies and civilians in the area toward its center. Bloody Blast (Active Skill) fires bullets of blood from a shotgun. Hold the skill button to increase power and range. Time Bomb (shared skill) places explosive blood with a timer on the host. Detonates after the set time, damaging the surrounding area. The user dies (near death in the case of a rarity).

Passive skills grant their effects simply by possessing them. Enhancements range from increasing your HP, to improving the durability of your weapon, to increasing your ability to recover from damage, giving you a significant advantage in combat. Throughout the game, you can collect Skill Tokens to improve various skills of each Rarity. This allows you to strengthen the rarities before you embark on missions. As you progress through the game, you will also be able to unlock new skills, meaning that the choices you make about which Rarities to prioritize will have a significant impact on your gameplay experience. You can also activate a Possession Mode: while holding the Possession button, time will slowly pass, allowing you to take your time selecting a Possession target. You will also be able to look around and move around in a state of mind.

Unlike the open streets, there are times when you must infiltrate buildings where enemies are lurking. During infiltration, you’ll need to hide and avoid detection while using Possession mode to scout your surroundings. You can also use Possession to stealthily navigate, evade surveillance, and penetrate deeper into enemy territory. Enemies can be detected as “presence”. Presence is perceived as flowing like air currents. Move the camera to check the flow and move in that direction. If you get close enough to an enemy presence, you can peek through its field of view. Scenery features can be used to guess their general location, such as if they are in an alley or on a rooftop, etc. They also showed the Kowlong slums. Once known as an ungoverned wasteland beyond the reach of the law, this gigantic slum is now slated for demolition in a few years, resulting in the forced eviction of its residents. Many refuse to leave, however, as they have nowhere else to go.

Slitterhead will be released on November 8th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC and PlayStation 4.
