Naughty Dog’s game is one of the first titles to support Sony’s yet-to-be-released half-generation console.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered has received a major update, which has been given the version number 1.2.0. The biggest addition is support for the PlayStation 5 Pro. A new rendering mode, Pro, has been added to the game, which can take advantage of the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaler. The new Pro mode renders at a resolution of 1440p, which PSSR upscales to 2160p (4K), while attempting to run at a frame rate of 60fps. Performance and Fidelity rendering modes are still available, and will provide a smoother experience and higher frame rate when played on the PlayStation 5 Pro compared to the base PlayStation 5. It wouldn’t hurt to have a more powerful display that isn’t just 1080p and 60Hz, for example.
Several bugs have been fixed. There was a bug that wouldn’t open trophies when you imported your PlayStation 4 save, and there was an interesting glitch where Abby’s torso would disappear when you switched between bonus costumes. In terms of gameplay, we also experienced a bug in The Tunnels map where Dina would be grabbed for extra time while trying to escape in the subway tunnel. This has also been fixed.
Fixed a bug in No Return where the stun bomb would not accurately affect the player’s stun stats. Some armed kills were not being properly tracked in a player’s stats if they stealthily killed some enemies in between two such kills. Shiv executions were also not being counted correctly. This has also been fixed. There was a sound bug: the background music did not progress as it should during a speedrun (on foot). There are also changes to the easier access options. In The Tunnels map, a bug caused the locked room code to not always be available in Enhanced Listen mode, and in No Return, enemies identified by Gambit were not properly identified in High Contrast mode. Finally, localization has been improved in several languages.
PlayStation 5 Pro will be available from November 7th.
