Arkane Founder’s New Game: A Blend of Dishonored, RPG Elements, and Shooting Action!

The new game from WolfEye Studios, led by Raphael Colantonio (former Arkane founder), sounds very promising.

Dishonored hasn’t been getting much attention lately. Dishonored: Death of the Outsider was released a good seven years ago, but that’s about it for the steampunk/dieselpunk world, and we would have liked to have seen more of it. We later learned that Deathloop is set in the same world (but in the far future), but it’s not the same. Several Bethesda games have been leaked (The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remaster, Fallout 3 remaster, Ghostwire: Tokyo sequel), and Dishonored 3 was among them. These were revealed in 2023 when the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sued Microsoft (because they believed that Activision’s acquisition of Blizzard King could create a monopoly).

All of these projects were scrapped after Microsoft acquired ZeniMax, Bethesda’s parent company. Since then, Dishonored has been parked, Arkane Austin is finished, and Arkane Lyon is working on Marvel’s Blade. So it falls to Colantonio to come up with a “non-Dishonored”… and WolfEye Studios is about to do just that, as it will be a mix of Dishonored and Prey with an RPG layer added, all in an internal view. Colantonio told Gamesindustry:

“People who loved Dishonored and Prey will feel right at home. It’s uncompromising… We’re just going all in on that kind of game in the way we create worlds, the way we give choices to the player. And I think this time there will be even more choices because of the RPG layer. We’re going to have a lot of different ways to do things. There is something about real-time decision-making, as opposed to everything being stats, that makes us feel more in the moment, more immersed. I’m surprised the intersection of RPG and first-person shooter hasn’t been more of a thing,” Colantonio said.

That sounds very exciting! Hopefully, we will hear more about it next year: a limited alpha test in 2025 is a certainty!
