Capcom has also promised that PC performance will be improved compared to the open beta for the new episode of the Monster Hunter franchise.
In the latest episode of its Community Stream series, the Japanese publisher has revealed more details about how Monster Hunter Wilds will run on console and PC. PC specs and system requirements have not been released yet (they’re waiting for Nvidia GeForce RTX 5000 and AMD Radeon RX 8000 graphics cards…?), but they promised that we won’t have to upgrade hardware if the beta doesn’t run well, as they’re aiming for better performance, so it might be optimized (as much as Denuvo will allow…).
The game doesn’t have PlayStation 5 Pro support by default, but the first day patch will include it. No word yet on what will be nicer on the half-generation console compared to the base PlayStation 5. It’s not even certain if Capcom will use the PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) upscaler, as the company hasn’t said anything about it yet, but we won’t have to wait long to find out.
The PlayStation 5 base model and the Xbox Series X will have a native resolution of 3072×1728 and a frame rate of 30 fps, as Prioritize Graphics will try to scale up to 4K from there. The Prioritize Framerate graphics mode will also offer upscaled 4K, the frame rate will still be 30 fps, and the native resolution will be 1080p in this case. In both cases, AMD FSR will be used to scale the graphics, rather than the checkerboard technology seen in the open beta, which Capcom will be using. The company also revealed during the broadcast how some of the weapons have been changed from the open beta, or if the hitstop we’ve seen in previous episodes of the franchise will return.
Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on February 28th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
