Daredevil Could Be Joining a Major Avengers Film in the MCU

MOVIE NEWS – A gym photo might have spilled the beans on Charlie Cox returning as Daredevil in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Since his 2015 debut, Cox has become a fan-favorite. Despite the cancellation of the Daredevil series in 2018, the character’s popularity led to his reappearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which set off a string of MCU appearances culminating in Daredevil: Born Again. Now, Daredevil’s journey in the MCU may hit new heights if he truly joins the Avengers.

DFRNT Health & Fitness recently shared an Instagram photo of Charlie Cox with his wife Sam at an Australian gym. The caption stated, “Charlie is currently training for his role in the upcoming @marvel Avengers movie as @daredevil.” While Marvel Studios and Disney have yet to confirm Cox’s involvement in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars, the post strongly suggests his return as Matt Murdock.

The Man Without Fear being part of Avengers: Doomsday shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Daredevil has been one of the most prominent figures in the Multiverse Saga. Following his return in Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, Daredevil appeared in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law in 2022 and Echo in 2024. This all leads into Daredevil: Born Again, debuting on Disney+ in March 2025. Additionally, Cox will reprise his role in the animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, which airs just before Born Again. With five appearances over four years, including being featured in concept art for Disneyland’s Avengers ride, Marvel seems to have big plans for Daredevil.

Daredevil’s Role in the Avengers Sequels

It’s also possible that Cox is training for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, which is confirmed to be in development. However, many fans hope to see Daredevil make his long-awaited Avengers debut. In Avengers: Endgame, fans wished for Daredevil and the Defenders to emerge from the portals to fight Thanos, but tensions between Marvel Studios and Marvel Television made this impossible. Now, with Marvel under unified leadership, Daredevil can finally join Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in a way fans have dreamed of for years.

The question remains: what can Daredevil bring to the Avengers? As a character rooted in street-level crime fighting, his lack of conventional superpowers might seem out of place. However, like Hawkeye in the original lineup, Daredevil could provide a grounded, relatable presence in a team of gods and tech geniuses. With the Avengers in flux following Endgame—as touched on in Spider-Man: Far From Home and the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World—Daredevil would be a strong addition to the evolving roster.
