Keanu Reeves Will Ditch His Action Star Persona and Return to Comedy in His New Movie

MOVIE NEWS – Keanu Reeves has built a reputation over the past decade as the ruthless, dog-loving assassin John Wick, but he’s now stepping away from that image. His next role will mark the return of “comedic Keanu.” Directed by Jonah Hill, Outcome will not only reunite Reeves with Cameron Diaz for the first time since the 1996 dark comedy Feeling Minnesota, but will also showcase him in a completely different light—without even a single “karate punch.”

Roy Wood Jr., who also stars in the film, described it as “hilarious” and shared a few insights into Reeves’ performance during the Sundance Film Festival. Speaking to ScreenRant, he said:

“I spoke with Jonah Hill, who’s directing and starring in Outcome, and I know they were still making final tweaks to the edit. I believe it’s on track for release this year. I don’t want to say too much and get in trouble with Apple. [Laughs] But I can say that this movie is extremely funny, and Keanu Reeves… well, I don’t think he throws a single karate punch in the entire film. Yep, the classic, comedic Keanu Reeves is back. As for my role, I can’t reveal too much, but imagine if Deion Sanders became a civil rights lawyer. Whatever you’re picturing—that’s my character in Outcome. It’s a completely different role than what I did in Love, Brooklyn.”

Keanu Reeves Has Been Popping Up in Unexpected Places

While Keanu Reeves is best known for his roles in The Matrix and John Wick franchises, his career has spanned a wide variety of genres. From the wacky humor of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure to horror in The Devil’s Advocate and supernatural action in Constantine, Reeves has always embraced a diverse range of projects.

In recent years, aside from his John Wick fame, Reeves has lent his voice to Duke Kaboom in Toy Story 4, Batman in DC League of Super-Pets, and Shadow the Hedgehog in various Sonic the Hedgehog projects, including the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3. He’s also had roles in Prime Video’s gaming anthology Secret Level and even made a surprise uncredited appearance as the voice of the Animated Lumon Administrative Building in Apple TV+’s Severance.

After reprising his roles as Ted in Bill & Ted Face the Music (2020) and Neo in The Matrix Resurrections (2021), Reeves still has more sequels on the horizon. He will return as John Wick in this year’s spin-off film Ballerina, and long-awaited follow-ups to Constantine and Bill & Ted are reportedly in the works.

However, Reeves isn’t just relying on past successes. In addition to Outcome, he’s set to star in the action-packed BRZRKR, the satirical comedy The Entertainment System Is Down, and another comedic film, Good Fortune, alongside Keke Palmer. With such a broad lineup, Reeves is ensuring there’s something for every fan.
