MOVIE NEWS – While many fans were initially skeptical about the Harry Potter TV series, excitement has been building as more details emerge. The reboot has the potential to bring a fresh perspective to the wizarding world, and expectations are high. Now, adding to the buzz, a former Harry Potter star has hinted that he already knows some of the cast members and has complete faith in their talent.
Jason Isaacs, best known for portraying Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, recently sat down with Patrick Schwarzenegger—who played Golden Boy in Gen V—for an interview with ScreenRant about The White Lotus Season 3. During the conversation, Isaacs dropped an interesting tidbit about the Harry Potter reboot, revealing that he’s aware of some of the casting choices and fully supports Mark Mylod, the showrunner.
“Oh, I know who they’re casting. They’re incredible actors,” Isaacs said. Schwarzenegger, clearly surprised, replied, “You do?”
“Some of them, yeah. And they’re incredible actors. And it’s being done by the same people who did the films, and Mark Mylod’s running it. He’s a brilliant showrunner. I worked with him years ago on Entourage, but he also did a lot of Game of Thrones. We worked together on Succession as well. He’s phenomenally talented, and they don’t need any advice from me.”
Will the New Cast Live Up to the Golden Trio?
The Harry Potter franchise is filled with countless iconic elements—from casting Expelliarmus to venturing into the Chamber of Secrets. But the most defining part was the Golden Trio: Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger. They grew from wide-eyed first-years into battle-hardened young adults ready to face ultimate evil, anchoring eight films with their performances while handling the massive global fame that came with it.
The books are undeniably magical, but in some ways, the movies brought an even greater sense of wonder.
Whoever the new cast members are, they have some big shoes to fill. The original trio had a rare chemistry that made J.K. Rowling’s world feel truly alive. To capture that same magic, the new actors will need talent, poise, and the ability to withstand the inevitable comparisons. If Jason Isaacs’ endorsement is anything to go by, it sounds like the showrunners have made some solid choices.
Moreover, HBO is producing the Harry Potter reboot. The network has a long track record of delivering high-quality, large-scale productions while turning fresh faces into international stars. With projects like Game of Thrones under its belt, HBO will undoubtedly ensure that the new Harry Potter cast is well-prepared for the immense expectations and pressures they will face.
