Ukrainian GSC Game World’s game has received an update that tweaks one thousand seven hundred (1700!) things! That’s huge.
Patch 1.2 is huge to say the least, and even GSC Game World called the update massive. According to the Ukrainian team, every aspect of the game has been addressed. Balancing, changing locations, fine-tuning missions, fixing glitches, and even delving into the A-Life systems that set the franchise apart. We won’t publish the full list, but here’s the gist.
A-Life and NPC AI are the biggest changes. Things the studio changed that could have a big impact on the game. NPCs can now loot from corpses, pick up the best weapons and armor, and do the same with other factions and stalkers. NPC shooting has also been modified: they’re likely to be less lethal, as accurate shots are now randomized, and some ammo types don’t put projectiles into the wall as much. Stealth has also been modified to make NPCs less eagle-eyed. Mutants have also been improved. Anyone who can jump can now do so in the game.
The Ukrainian studio also went deep into the central story. Many problems that could cause missions to fail or not work properly have been fixed, and NPCs don’t react strangely during the main missions. Our flashlight now casts shadows normally, NPC relationships change more consistently, and there’s a smoother transition from scene to gameplay. The parkour animation is also better in a crouching pose, and when anomalies catch NPCs, they throw up their pawns more spectacularly. A couple of interesting bugs have been fixed though: if you threw a grenade at someone’s leg, it would disappear, and that has been fixed, and a bug where shooting a mutant’s limbs would make them drag on has been fixed.
The list of changes is just a summary, so if you want to see the full list, visit GSC Game World’s website…
