Astro Bot: Another Award for Team Asobi’s Excellent Platformer!

Now the only question is when Sony will think about bringing the game to PC… or will it go the way of Demon’s Souls Remake (it will remain exclusive)?

Astro Bot was the big winner at the 2025 BAFTA Game Awards, taking home five awards including Best Game. The PlayStation 5 platformer from Team Asobi also took home awards for sound, animation, game design, and family. Still Wakes The Deep from British studio The Chinese Room also won three awards. And two went to actors Alec Newman and Karen Dunbar for their performances in the horror game set on an oil rig. Helldivers 2, a cooperative game that was a big hit last year, won two awards (in the multiplayer and music categories).

There was a rather eclectic mix of games, with the card-based roguelike Balatro, the platformer Neva, and the narrative-driven action game Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II also receiving awards. To be nominated, games had to meet one criterion: they had to be released between November 25, 2023 and November 15, 2024. One award has already been announced, with the BAFTA Fellowship Award going to Yoko Shimomura, a composer known for her work on Kingdom Hearts, Xenoblade, and Final Fantasy, among others.

Anikó, our news editor and communication manager, is more interested in the business side of the gaming industry. She worked at banks, and she has a vast knowledge of business life. Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
