Nintendo will dedicate a special presentation to The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary on September 8, when the Ocarina of Time remake is expected to finally appear in action. Another Nintendo Direct will follow the next day, before the broadcasts continue with Treehouse gameplay demonstrations.

Nintendo has officially announced the date and time of The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct. The 30-minute broadcast, focused entirely on the legendary fantasy franchise, will begin on September 8 at 4:00 p.m. CEST.

The anniversary show will be followed by a general Nintendo Direct on September 9, also at 4:00 p.m. CEST. That 45-minute presentation will cover first-party and third-party games headed to Nintendo Switch 2, while a Nintendo Treehouse broadcast afterward will take a closer look at gameplay from some of the most important titles. Across the two days, viewers can expect almost 110 minutes of programming.

The Ocarina of Time remake could headline the Zelda Direct

The greatest interest naturally surrounds the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Nintendo previously confirmed that the completely rebuilt version is planned for 2026, but it still has no exact release date, making detailed gameplay and further information likely candidates for the anniversary presentation.

Since the Direct celebrates the series’ 40th anniversary, other surprises may also be in store. Speculation includes a collection featuring updated versions of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The first official trailer for The Legend of Zelda movie could also appear; the film is scheduled to reach theaters on April 30, 2027.

The following Nintendo Direct may also deliver major announcements

Expectations are similarly high for the general presentation on September 9. FromSoftware’s upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 game, The Duskbloods, may receive a release date after remaining attached only to a broad 2026 launch window. Fans are also hoping for a new 3D Mario game and the return of other major Nintendo franchises.

Definitive answers are now only days away: the two consecutive Direct presentations will begin on September 8 and 9, both at 4:00 p.m. CEST.
