[XGS 2025] Anno 117: Pax Romana – Will You Become the Roman Empire’s Greatest Governor? [VIDEO]

Ubisoft Mainz is planning to release a new installment in the Anno series during the Christmas rush, which may cause it to be overlooked. In the latest installment of the award-winning Anno strategy franchise, you have the opportunity to shape the Roman Empire in 117 CE. As governor, will you promote economic growth or expand your authority through dominance? Will you lead with rebellion or unite a diverse culture? The cost of peace is yours to decide. Follow the path laid before you or boldly question the empire’s status quo. Embark on a challenging narrative journey and build your cities where alternative paths beckon.

Journey through the lesser-known territories of the Roman Empire. Uncover the allure of Latium and Albion, the twin provinces entrusted to your governance. Your choices as governor matter to your citizens! Will you encourage economic growth, or expand your rule through dominance? Will you lead with rebellion or unite a diverse culture? Choose wisely; your decisions will guide your citizens through the era of Pax Romana.

This real-time economic strategy simulation began in 1998 with Anno 1602: Creation of a New World. Max Design’s game was followed in 2002 by Anno 1503: The New World. Then came Anno 1701 (Related Designs) in 2006; Anno 1404 (developed by Ubisoft Blue Byte) in 2009; Anno 2070 in 2011; Anno 2205 (also developed by Ubisoft Blue Byte) in 2015; and Anno 1800 in 2019, which has the most additions and console releases to date.

The multiplatform approach and an unusual launch window

The multiplatform approach will not change with Anno 117: Pax Romana, which, for the first time, sets the gameplay in the earliest historical period of the franchise. The game will launch not only on PC but also on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Amazon Luna, the cloud gaming service. The release date is scheduled for November 13. The question remains: will it get enough attention, considering that, as always at the end of the year, a flood of new titles is expected to hit at the same time?
