Postal 2 Redux is breathing new life into the cult 2003 shooter, rebuilt from the ground up in Unity by Flat2VR Studios, Team Beef, and Running With Scissors—and it’s coming to almost every platform you can think of.
Postal 2 Redux isn’t just a remaster, it’s a full-blown resurrection. Every weapon, every twisted joke, and every splatter of Paradise’s original Unreal Engine 1.5 chaos is being lovingly ported over to Unity—so you can relive the notorious “one crazy week” of the Postal Dude with sharper visuals, snappier controls, and a bucketload of new features. The project started when Team Beef’s VR adaptation (Postal 2: VR) exposed the aging game code’s limits. Flat2VR Studios convinced Running With Scissors to greenlight a total gut renovation—keeping all the sick humor, but rebuilding the guts so Paradise can run on anything made after 2010 without crashing every other hour.
The mission is simple: deliver the ultimate, no-excuses Postal 2 sandbox—no emulators, no nostalgia goggles required. Postal 2 Redux sports overhauled graphics, new weapons, messier physics, and enough Easter eggs to make even Uncle Dave blush. Paradise’s deranged billboards and weird, shimmering puddles are getting a much-needed facelift. Explore the city end-to-end with no more elevator, door, or loading screens. Civilians still tattle, cops still overreact, but smarter AI means riots explode faster (and messier) than ever before. Ballistics are brutal, ragdoll carnage is gleefully gory, and shots can punch through crowds. Shops, arcades, and alleys are stuffed with physics objects begging to be trashed. And yes, you can finally pet the dog (or let him photobomb your next headshot). Paradise’s goodest boy finally gets the love he deserves.
Paradise breathes: day turns to night, trash piles up in every back alley, and nearly everything is destructible. Every over-the-top tool is being rebuilt from scratch, plus a few new toys the Paradise PD hasn’t banned yet. Rumor has it the Postal Dude’s “accessories” are getting upgrades too—because subtlety has no place here.
“Players begged us to fix the glitches, modernize the visuals, and maybe have the dog pee on them a little less often. We’re doing at least two of those,” said Vince Desi, founder of Running With Scissors, in the press release. “Flat2VR Studios is genuinely thrilled to help pen the next chapter in the Postal saga. Bringing Paradise to new platforms—and putting the shovel in the hands of both OG fans and total newbies—is a career high,” added Eric Masher, COO of Flat2VR Studios. “The original code tried to die on us every day. Running With Scissors let us carve it up and Frankenstein it back to life—now with fewer blue screens. Kickstarter’s just to stuff in even more chaos before some suit tries to stop us,” quipped Grant Bagwell, Team Beef co-founder.
Postal 2 Redux is heading for a Kickstarter this summer, so what the finished game launches on will depend on fan support (and, of course, the necessary paperwork with digital storefronts). The game is targeting PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Mac, and Linux. Release timing is still TBA.
