If you’re waiting for a physical edition of Ninja Gaiden, you’ll have to be a bit more patient—Silver Lining Entertainment won’t be releasing boxed copies on launch day.
Silver Lining Entertainment will offer Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound in two editions. The standard edition includes the game for PlayStation 5 or Nintendo Switch, plus a retro mini artbook and the full soundtrack. The Special Edition will pack everything from the standard version and throw in a cloth map, four metal pins, a double-sided hero medallion (each side featuring a different protagonist), a pixel stage stand, and a two-sided poster—all packed into a collector’s box for fans.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound picks up immediately after the opening moments of the original NES Ninja Gaiden. The line between the human and demon realms has been shattered, connecting the world to a portal of darkness. After Ryu Hayabusa leaves his village seeking vengeance for his father, Kenji Mozu, a young ninja from the Hayabusa Clan and one of the game’s dual protagonists, steps up to confront evil. In this shadowy age, Kenji and Kumori’s destinies cross as they struggle with the generational grudges of their clans.
Their only hope for survival is to harness a forbidden power that fuses Kumori’s spirit with Kenji’s. Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound’s story of demon-slaying unfolds through the adventure of these two young ninjas, bound together by fate and skill. The journey is packed with pulse-pounding stages crawling with monsters, where players will need to master the “Ninja Fusion” ability to fully unleash both heroes’ strengths.
Kenji and Kumori’s quest is filled with epic showdowns against boss-sized behemoths. The game offers upgradable abilities, hidden collectibles, secret unlockable missions, optional challenges, and more—delivering a modern take on the franchise’s intense, fast-paced combat and skill-driven platforming. The lush pixel art pays homage to classic 2D games, vividly bringing to life rich settings and fierce enemies in stunning detail. The dynamic action is enhanced by a standout soundtrack with tracks from special guest composers, rounding out an adventure fans won’t soon forget.
Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound launches July 31 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The boxed editions for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch will arrive September 12.
