Swedish studio CRG Studio launches Crystalfall‘s early access on Steam on March 20 – for free.
Crystalfall is a free-to-play action RPG developed by Swedish studio CRG Studio, set in a post-apocalyptic steampunk world devastated by an asteroid impact, where a mysterious crystalline energy drives survivors into dangerous dungeons in search of fragments and valuable loot. The developers openly cite Path of Exile and Diablo 2 as their primary inspirations, targeting players who enjoy deep character customization and long-term build progression.
The game’s systems reflect that ambition: a large talent tree with modifier slots, skills obtainable from loot each with their own procedurally generated progression trees, and distinct combat styles ranging from pistol-and-shield combinations to dual staves. Equipment goes beyond simple stat boosts — weapons and armor carry modifiers that fundamentally reshape their base statistics.
Crystalfall already made an impression at the most recent Steam Next Fest, where its demo ranked among the fifty most-played. The early access version launches on Steam on March 20, 2026, completely free of charge, with three playable classes, five campaign acts, and localization in eleven languages.
