One of the best post-apocalyptic open-world shooters is getting another free content drop today. GSC Game World has announced the Sealed Truth update for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, bringing a new mission while also laying the groundwork for the game’s first DLC.
Now that STALKER 2 is in a far better state than it was at launch, thanks to improvements to its AI, performance, and major gameplay tuning, GSC Game World is clearly stepping up the pace. Beyond the expansion already planned for later this year, which will push the post-apocalyptic open world even further, the Ukrainian studio has now announced the Sealed Truth patch, available today for free to all players and positioned as a direct prelude to that upcoming DLC.
According to the studio’s press release, this is a smaller-scale update in pure size, but one with much greater narrative significance than it might initially appear to have. The new playable content is meant to dig deeper into the secrets of the Zone and send players into a location that will immediately resonate with long-time fans of the series.
The New Mission Sends Players Into the Depths of X-18
This time, the core of the update revolves around the X-Labs, the underground facilities that have been one of the saga’s most important lore pillars since the very beginning. Players will now be able to investigate what is happening in the lower depths of the X-18 laboratory, where rumors suggest that a technician named Diod has somehow gained access to areas that were sealed off years ago after failed experiments.
GSC Game World also made it clear that this mission is aimed at high-level players rather than newcomers, which is why the reward is said to be generous. Of course, in the Zone, nothing is ever that simple. The studio stresses that nothing is what it seems, and that the expedition will hide not only unexpected dangers, but also discoveries that go beyond straightforward material rewards.
With this update, GSC Game World is both expanding the base STALKER 2 experience and preparing the way for the next major piece of content. The Cost of Hope DLC still does not have a release date, but the studio has already said that more details will be shared in the coming months. Until then, Sealed Truth gives players a reason to head back into the Zone right now.
