The original Gothic trilogy, which captivated thousands of fantasy fans between 2001 and 2006, is finally coming to PlayStation and Xbox Series X/S. The franchise is already enjoying a strong 2026 thanks to Gothic 1 Remake, but now it has been revealed that Sony and Microsoft players will also get access to the three classic adventures that built this iconic RPG saga.
It is important to clarify that these are not remasters or remakes. THQ Nordic has announced that PlayStation and Xbox Series X/S will receive ports of Gothic Classic, Gothic 2 Complete Classic, and Gothic 3 Classic. That means these versions will retain the early-2000s visuals and the rougher, less modern design sensibilities that made the series a cult favorite in the first place. Even so, this is still a great way to experience an epic fantasy journey built around faction conflicts, NPCs with their own agendas, and large-scale struggles between rival powers on current-generation consoles.
THQ Nordic has chosen a staggered release plan for the trilogy, so the three games will not arrive all at once, but across the rest of 2026. Gothic Classic launches on July 28, Gothic 2 Complete Classic follows on September 29, and Gothic 3 Classic closes the lineup on November 24. Each of the three titles will be sold separately for 29.99 euros, meaning the publisher is not bundling them together for console players.
Taken together, these releases offer a truly massive amount of gameplay. According to HowLongToBeat, completionists can spend up to 38 hours on the first Gothic, 83 hours on Gothic 2, and 114 hours on Gothic 3. Combined, that adds up to 235 hours of content, all driven by a story that begins with the journey of an unknown prisoner who may eventually determine the fate of an entire kingdom.
Pre-Orders Also Come With an Extra Bonus
Anyone already thinking about diving back into this universe, or entering it for the first time, should also keep in mind another THQ Nordic initiative running in parallel. Gothic 1 Remake is already available for pre-order in both a Standard Edition and a Collector’s Edition, and whichever version players choose, they will receive Gothic Classic as an immediate bonus. That means players can return to the Valley of Mines right away while waiting for Alkimia Interactive’s remake, which is scheduled to launch on June 5, 2026.
