Asobo Studio and Xbox Game Studios haven’t overlooked Sony’s VR headset, despite the fact that the company itself hasn’t mentioned it lately.
Explore new heights with the free PlayStation VR2 update for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, available now. This true-to-life experience delivers an enhanced level of authenticity in simulated flying for fans and newcomers alike. With 125 different aircraft to fly, each offering a unique virtual reality experience, you’ll feel closer than ever to the incredible sensation of flight from your own console. The sky is calling!
This free update is good news because, although there isn’t much official information on how many VR headsets Sony has sold, there are certainly some out there. Perhaps among them are gamers who use their virtual reality headsets frequently. This update is welcome news for them because they won’t have to spend any more money. There isn’t much to spend it on anyway since we rarely hear about games being developed for the PlayStation VR2, a device that has definitely failed to meet expectations, even compared to the first-generation model.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was released on November 19, 2024, for Xbox Series and PC, and then on December 8, 2025, a year later, Asobo Studio’s game also launched on PlayStation 5, thereby gaining VR support. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is the first title in the franchise to be released on Sony hardware, so this was a bold move on Microsoft’s part. Recently, however, the company has begun looking toward exclusivity again under its new leadership, and as we’ve heard, Sony will also be moving away from PC ports, which could affect Saros as well.
But we’d like to ask one final question: doesn’t the flight simulator make some people feel nauseous? Probably yes.
