HANDHELD NEWS – Following the success of the Steam Deck, Asus became one of the first manufacturers to break into the handheld PC market, so their new hardware could be promising.
According to a statement by Steam Dad, a German YouTuber who specializes in handhelds, Asus may unveil a next-generation handheld PC at the 2026 Computex exhibition. While the claim is unofficial, the wording suggests that the unveiling will occur at the Taipei trade show. This year’s Computex in Taipei runs from June 2 to 5, so we won’t have to wait long. Steam Dad said he can’t share any details yet but advised viewers to watch Computex if they want to see Asus’s next-generation handheld PC. He added that he’ll likely be able to reveal more in two weeks, coinciding with the Computex dates. He did not mention the technical specifications, chipset, display size, price, or product name. There is no confirmation as to whether this device will be another ROG Ally model, a new Xbox-branded ROG Ally, or a different Asus handheld.
“As you probably know – and if you didn’t, you do now – Computex takes place in Taiwan at the beginning of June, and Asus will be there too. I can’t say too much here either, except that you should keep an eye on Computex if you want to see a next-gen handheld from Asus because something may be presented there. We will probably talk about that soon, maybe in two weeks. I’m not allowed to say anything more about it right now,” said Steam Dad.
The latest additions to the lineup are the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. These devices feature the Windows 11 operating system, Ryzen Z2 series APUs, and a 7-inch (17.78 cm) FHD 120 Hz display. These devices support Microsoft’s handheld-specific features, including the Handheld Compatibility Program and Advanced Shader Delivery. The Xbox Ally models introduce numerous Windows-based gaming features, many of which are also available on other systems, such as the Lenovo Legion Go and the MSI Claw.
While we know that Intel will showcase its chips designed for Arc G3 handhelds at Computex, Asus is not listed among the platform’s official partners. Additionally, AMD is not expected to unveil the Ryzen Z3 series this soon; therefore, this is likely a mid-cycle product refresh rather than a new device.
