TECH NEWS: Reports once again suggest that this year’s higher-end iPhone models could give physical-SIM buyers a lower-capacity battery.
Unofficial supply-chain information has revealed interesting claimed details about the Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max battery. Fireuniverse posted a screenshot from Weibo on X before deleting the post.
According to the leak, the eSIM version of the iPhone 18 Pro Max could use a 5425 mAh battery, while the physical-SIM variant may receive a 5235 mAh cell. These figures are not official, so they should be treated cautiously until Apple makes an announcement.
For comparison, the eSIM iPhone 17 Pro Max was reportedly fitted with a 5088 mAh battery, while the physical-SIM version used a 4823 mAh unit. If the new figures are accurate, the difference may again come down to more internal space being available in the eSIM chassis.
Other equally unofficial reports claim that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could include a larger vapor chamber. The central tablet-shaped cutout may allegedly retain only the front-facing camera and part of the Face ID system, while infrared components could move to the side or beneath the display.
That change could allow Apple to reduce the size of the cutout and the resulting Dynamic Island. There is still no official confirmation of the final design.
Rumors also mention a 48-megapixel triple-camera system with a variable-aperture main camera, an ultra-wide module featuring improved optical image stabilization, and a periscope telephoto sensor. Apple may reportedly place the cameras in a more prominent camera bar than before.
Regarding the display, reports mention Samsung M16 LTPO+ OLED technology, a native 10-bit panel, and improved power efficiency. The rumored adaptive refresh rate could rise to 120 Hz for gaming or scrolling and fall to 1 Hz when viewing static content.
The iPhone 18 Pro duo is also rumored to use Apple’s new C2 modem, which could bring 5G mmWave support and additional satellite features. Possible new colors have also been mentioned, including space gray, dark cherry, light blue, and silver.
Leaked prices should not be treated as final either. Some reports claim that the iPhone 18 Pro could start at $1,400, but Apple has not officially confirmed specifications, pricing, or release timing.
