The New Street Fighter Is Packed With Easter Eggs – Noah Centineo Says Fans Will Find Hundreds of References

MOVIE NEWS – Video game adaptations have become increasingly common in recent years, and the upcoming Street Fighter appears determined to embrace its Capcom origins rather than distance itself from them. According to Noah Centineo, who plays Ken Masters, the movie contains hundreds of Easter eggs ranging from familiar lines to legendary special moves taken directly from the games.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Centineo discussed director Kitao Sakurai’s approach and explained that the filmmakers never tried to separate the movie from its video game foundations. Instead, character movements, fighting styles, recognizable exchanges, and numerous visual details were designed with longtime fans in mind. Centineo specifically mentioned hundreds of Easter eggs, including references to special attacks players have been using throughout the franchise’s long history.

The Movie Knows What Kind of Street Fighter It Wants to Be

According to Centineo, the filmmakers did not attempt to turn the material into something darker or more self-serious than the games themselves. The production instead embraces the colorful, exaggerated, and frequently playful identity associated with Street Fighter. Centineo described it as a movie that understands exactly what it wants to be: a fast-moving action spectacle that is comfortable with its video game DNA. That approach does not automatically guarantee a successful adaptation, but it at least suggests that Capcom’s world has not been reshaped into an entirely conventional Hollywood action movie.

Centineo also has a personal connection to the property, having grown up playing the Street Fighter games. That made it particularly important to him that Ken’s movement, attacks, and attitude remain recognizably connected to his interactive counterpart. Whether those hundreds of references feel naturally integrated into the story or become little more than constant fan-service will become clear when the finished movie arrives. Street Fighter opens in Hungarian theaters on October 15, 2026.
