Realmforge Studios and Kalypso Media are developing a fairy tale–inspired action-adventure game starring a witch.
In a time when the world was wild and full of magic, a witch lived. She lived a calm and peaceful life in harmony with all creatures and humans. That changed one pristine autumn day when the witches of Khemia gathered to celebrate their annual Harvest Festival. For many days, the witches prepared a joyful feast with sacred recipes passed down for generations. The tables groaned under the weight of myriad baked delights while laughter and sweet smells filled the air. Suddenly, a foul stench swept over the land. In an instant, every loaf, pie, and piece of pastry began to rot. Vermin arose in endless swarms, and a nameless plague began to consume all living things.
In the charming, handcrafted, fairy-tale-inspired action-adventure game Rise of the Spellbaker, our witch is seemingly the sole survivor of an unknown plague. With only your loyal cat familiar by your side, set out into the corrupted land. Fight back the insatiable Rot by awakening the powerful magic of spellbaking from forgotten recipes, and uncover the hidden hand pulling the strings behind this foul fate. Guide the witch on her journey to save Khemia from a grim, all-consuming plague. This handcrafted action-adventure game draws you into a powerful story in a world full of magic, fairy tales, and the smell of freshly baked goods.
Experience a world being consumed by a plague that covers the land and chokes almost every living creature. This plague turns a once light, sweet, and colorful home into a dark, fetid, and dismal place infested with dangerous creatures, such as the Skullopod and the Big Mouth. An unfathomable presence looms in the background, overshadowing it all. Rediscover and develop your forgotten magical talent, spellbaking, to reclaim your world from the Rot and the evil mastermind pulling the strings. Discover new recipes, gather ingredients, and bake powerful pastries like the Crescent Wave or the Shortcrust Grenade to defeat your enemies.
Along the way, you’ll discover that this new world hides more than meets the eye. Fortunately, you are not alone. Hermann the talking sourdough, the floury Biscies, and your loyal cat familiar will help you face the challenges ahead. Furnish and decorate the witch’s house, and transform your village into a safe haven to which you can return during your adventures. Feed Hermann to jog his memory and gain more knowledge about recipes, as well as discover his connection to your home and perhaps the key to defeating the plague. In multiplayer mode, team up with up to five other surviving witches, divide the tasks among your group, and work together to defeat the Rot.
Rise of the Spellbaker will be released next year for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
